Jay Slater's devastated mum speaks out to deny two claims about adored son
Jay Slater died in June aged 19 while he was having a holiday with friends in Tenerife.
Jay Slater’s grieving mum Debbie Duncan has rubbished as rumours two claims circulating about his son.
Firstly, she quashed claims that her boy stole a watch worth thousands hours prior to his death.
Moreover, she denounced suggestions that he fell foul of a drug cartel while he was on holiday in Tenerife, where he had flown with friends to attend a music festival.
After the apprentice bricklayer vanished on June 17, online trolls speculated about his final hours despite the grief his family was going through.
Denying the claims that he fell into trouble with a drug gang and had taken a yacht to Morocco, mum Debbie told The Sun: "He would never have been involved in anything like that.
“He had only been in Tenerife three days – and was at a festival with friends which had wristbands, security and an itinerary.
“I’ve no idea where these drug stories have come from and the stuff about him stealing a watch is nonsense.”

After Jay was found on July 15 in Rural de Teno park, his body went through a post-mortem which said his injuries were consistent with a fall from a great height.
Following the post-mortum, he was taken back to Britain for his funeral. Mourners gathered at Accrington Cemetery Chapel and were asked to wear something blue at the ceremony, which saw the anthem "Forever Young" played.
Funeral director Sarah Barton, who officiated the moving service, told the congregation that “Jay touched the lives of so many people”.
