A nine-bedroom hotel hit the market for a mere £50,000 in a UK town but failed to receive a single offer after people saw inside.

Urban explorer David Burnip, who documents his explorations on his Wandering Turnip YouTube channel, was gobsmacked to discover the vast terraced property just moments away from Blackpool's promenade.

Upon entry, David was confronted with the building's dire state – including floors riddled with holes and shattered glass strewn about. But he was thrilled to uncover a bar nestled in the corner of a room.

The discovery hinted at the building's past life as a guest house, which had fallen victim to the dwindling fortunes of Blackpool's tourism industry, leading to its closure by the former proprietors.

According to the auctioneer's description, the building represented "an ideal investment opportunity, with scope as either HMO, private residence, or potential for a BandB".

The property's severe dilapidation, evidenced by every ensuite's smashed sink lying in ruins on the floor, likely contributed to the lack of interest from buyers, even at such a bargain price.

"The crazy thing about this place is, I followed it at auction, I watched it go through it did not sell," David remarked. "It did not sell for £50,000. I can't believe that, not a single bid on that property."

Another dilapidated building nearby highlights the condition of housing in the area. When the builder assured David on his previous visit that he would be "shocked" at the progress in six months' time, David returned only to find little had changed.

"I'm pretty sure it's in the exact same state," he expressed in disappointment.

After David shared his footage, the £50,000 hotel was put back on the market and eventually managed to sell for £80,000.

It comes after a savvy entrepreneur secured a massive derelict hotel for just £60,000 and transformed it into residential office space catering to digital nomads.

Duncan Ridgley chose the renowned Lancashire resort due to its status as "the cheapest cost-of-living town in the UK". He explained: "There's a pub up the road you can get a pint for £1.80, my neighbour runs a burger bar across the street, and he charges a quid for a burger, so you can have a night out for a fiver."
