McDonald's offers free birthday cake doughnut, hailed better than Krispy Kreme by fans

McDonald's patrons are lauding a special edition doughnut that they can snag at no cost. The fast food giant is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an array of limited-edition sweet delights. Among these is a unique birthday cake doughnut filled with strawberry-flavoured filling and topped with buttercream-flavoured icing sprinkles.

While the doughnut is listed on the McCafe menu for £1.99, some customers will have the opportunity to get it for free through the MyMcDonald's Rewards scheme. Customers who sign up for the scheme via the McDonald's website can get the doughnut free of charge as long as they spend a minimum of £4 at a McDonald's outlet.

Once customers have done this, they can claim the free doughnut on the MyMcDonald's app. However, the offer is time-limited, with the new doughnut only available until August 19.

Several McDonald's enthusiasts have been singing the praises of the doughnut on social media, with one Facebook user claiming it surpasses a Krispy Kreme treat. Posting in the Extreme Bargain's UK group, one fan said: "Just had one, way nicer than Krispy Kreme in my opinion."

Another chimed in: "I had mine yesterday, it didn't look like much but it was the best doughnut I've tasted in a long time shame they're £1.99 normally else I'd be buying more, not worth the price tag but maybe tasted better cause it was free."

Meanwhile, a third added: "There a cracking doughnut to be fair enjoyed mine this afternoon."

The unique doughnut is part of a range of new sweet delights, including a Milkybar Raspberry Ripple McFlurry and a Munchies Cookie Dough McFlurry. The Raspberry Ripple McFlurry is a blend of soft dairy ice cream with mini Milkybar chocolate drops, finished off with a sweet raspberry sauce.

On the other hand, the Cookie Dough McFlurry's ice cream is filled with chocolate-coated Munchies biscuit pieces, all topped with a caramel cookie dough sauce.
