Murder probe underway after woman with serious injuries dies in Rotherham

Police were called to an address in Herringthorpe Road on Friday evening at 5.53pm following reports of a woman inside with serious injuries.

A MURDER probe has been launched with a man under arrest after the death of a woman in Rotherham.

Police were called to an address in Herringthorpe Road on Friday evening at 5.53pm following reports of a woman inside with serious injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody."

The force has yet to say if the woman and the suspect were known to each other.

A scene and road closures are currently in place on Herringthorpe Road while officers carry out their enquiries.
