Two “feral” 16-year-old twin brothers have been jailed for killing a father who was stabbed to death on his bicycle.

Nero and Nevardo McLean were with three other thugs who hatched a plan to kill Junior Osborne, 50.

CCTV shows Mr Osborne’s final moments before he was attacked on Narborough Road in Leicester at 9.30pm on September 27 last year.

Footage shows Nero holding a large knife and sprinting up to Mr Osborne before stabbing him in neck.

Nero and the other teens fled the scene leaving Mr Osborne in a pool of blood.

Shocked passersby called 999 and Mr Osborne was rushed to Leicester Royal Infirmary but he died an hour later.

Detectives trawled through hours of CCTV to identity the thugs who were arrested and charged with Mr Osborne’s killing.

Following a five-week trial, Nero, who lived half-a-mile away from the scene with his brother, was found guilty of murder and possessing a bladed article.

Judge Neil Calver jailed him for life with a minimum term of 17 years at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday (11/6).

His brother Nevardo, along with Theobald Budzwa, 18, Moises Steiner, 18, and James Williams, 18, were found guilty of manslaughter and possession of a bladed article.

They were each jailed for eight years.

The court heard the gang met two hours before the killing at a house in Andrewes Walk in Leicester where they planned to attack Mr Osborne.

Three of the gang bought large knives and filmed themselves posing with the blades before the killing.

The judge, who lifted reporting restrictions, said Mr Osborne was riding his bicycle when Nero ran up behind him and plunged a knife into the righthand side of his neck.

Mr Osborne managed to run a short distance before collapsing on the ground.

Judge Calver told Nero: “A crueller, more heartless killing is hard to imagine.”

After the hearing, Detective Inspector Mark Parish, East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) major crime team, said: “I believe this was a planned and co-ordinated attack to kill Junior."

Mr Osborne was born and raised in the Caribbean island of Montserrat but fled to the UK following a deadly volcanic eruption.

In a statement, Mr Osborne’s family paid tribute to a “much-loved husband, father, brother and stepfather.”

They said: “Junior was a family man who’ll be missed by all of us.

"He was born and grew up in Montserrat in the Caribbean and loved his sports.

“He came to the UK in 1997 after the volcano on the island started to erupt two years before, meaning he had to flee his home.

“He left his family behind and came to the UK to rebuild his life – a life that was cruelly taken away from him.

“While life wasn’t easy, he had a family and children who loved him.

“He was a smart person who would go above and beyond to help others and made plenty of friends along the way.

“While he wasn’t perfect, he didn’t deserve to die in such a tragic and awful way. He was taken from us in cold blood.

“The loss of Junior has left a huge void for all of us and a huge hole in our hearts.

"He was a much-loved husband, father, brother and stepfather.

“His children won’t get to see him again and he won’t get to see his daughter graduate or be able to walk her down the aisle.

“The footage of his final moments has been difficult for us to see.

“While we’ve got justice for Junior, no sentence is going to bring him back.

“However, we hope the streets are a safer place now those who took him from us won’t be able to roam the streets any time soon.”
