Inside UK's empty home hotspots as millions lying abandoned - full list

New data has revealed that there are 760,821 vacant properties in England, Scotland and Wales.

New data has revealed that there are 760,821 vacant properties in England, Scotland and Wales.

Insurance specialist Alan Boswell has released data on the UK’s empty home hotspots, with a county in northwest Wales taking first place.

Gwynedd has over 5,286 vacant properties per 100,000 people, 6,204 overall. More than 77 percent of empty homes here are actually second or holiday homes.

In second place came Argyll and Bute in Scotland. It has 4,887 vacant homes per 100,000 people, 10 percent of the total homes in the area.

In third place was Pembrokeshire in Wales which has 4,331 empty homes per 100,000 people, 5,346 total. Over 74 percent are second and holiday homes.

On the other end of the spectrum, East Renfrewshire in Scotland has the least empty houses with only 206.

Also among the areas with the least empty homes are Wrexham in Wales and Wandsworth in London, with 224 and 269 per 100,000 people, respectively.
