Luton stabbing: School on lockdown as woman seriously injured
Police have rushed to the scene amid reports of a stabbing outside a primary school.
A woman has been left seriously injured after she was stabbed in broad daylight near a school in Luton. Police scrambled to the scene near Beech Hill Primary School earlier today (Tuesday, May 21), with the school put on lockdown.
The woman was found with "serious injuries" on Dunstable Road shortly after 8.30am, and has been rushed to hospital. Bedfordshire Police said a man has been arrested, all children are safe and there is no wider threat to the public.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Bedfordshire Police is investigating the stabbing of a woman near a school in Dunstable Road, Luton shortly after 8.30am this morning (Tuesday). The victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. One man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
"All children are safe within the school and there is no wider threat to the public. Police will maintain a strong presence in the area for reassurance. Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101 quoting the reference 84."
