Body of man found near UK football stadium named as missing man
Cops descended on the area, which is close to Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, on Saturday afternoon.
The family of a missing man have been informed of the discovery of a man's body on the borders of Salford and Trafford, it has been confirmed.
Police were protecting a cordon that was erected around the Barton Road Swing Bridge area between the borders of Salford and Trafford today (March 16). Reports from the Manchester Evening News said a body was recovered and subsequently taken away by a private ambulance.
The police found the body during their search for a man called Andrew, known as Andy, from Eccles. Although his body has not been formally identified, police have informed Andy's family. The family are being supported by specialist officers.
According to M.E.N, his death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner, the force said.

Detective Inspector Mike Sharples from GMP Salford said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with Andrew’s family and friends at this time.
“Officers and specialist resources have been working around the clock and through the night to find Andrew since he was first reported missing to us, and I would like to thank members of the public who shared our appeals and assisted with our investigation.
“Our priority now is to make sure we can do everything possible to support the family and get the necessary answers for his loved ones, but I would ask that the family are given privacy during this time.”

Earlier, the police presence blocked a footpath along the area around the bridge. Police were seen standing on both sides of the bridge.
It appeared the cordon had been been in place throughout Saturday. The force has since left the scene.
The bridge is only about four miles from Manchester United's famous Old Trafford stadium. The club are due to play Liverpool tomorrow at home, so police will be grateful to have been able to leave the scene prior to the fixture.
