Siege at bank: Man charged
POLICE last night charged a man of 36 over a three-hour bank siege on Monday.
Fifteen people were taken hostage in the siege at Barclays bank in Ashford, west London.
Matthew Nutley, of Ashford, was charged with robbery, false imprisonment, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery and two counts of making threats to kill. He was also accused of blackmail, having an offensive weapon and making a bomb hoax.
He is in custody and due before Staines JPs today.
