Probe into Muslim book sales
A MUSLIM organisation linked to a banned preacher is being investigated over books it sells, it emerged last night.
Home Secretary Theresa May issued an order earlier this month excluding Indian doctor Zakir Naik.
A TV preacher, he has made inflammatory comments about Osama Bin Laden and Jews and been cited as an inspiration by some terrorists. He was to speak at the LG Arena, Birmingham, yesterday.
The Charity Commission said yesterday it was looking into concerns raised over books sold by the event’s organisers, the Islamic Dawah Centre International.
A Commission spokesman said it was trying to establish if it had a regulatory role to play.
But the charity insisted the books it sold had been vetted and cleared.
Spokesman Mohammed Zameer said: “All of our books are on the website. There is nothing that is objectionable.”
