UK pub where bookings are banned due to four year wait for 'faultless' Sunday roast
The pub reportedly had the longest wait time in the world after the "backstreet boozer" delivered the best Sunday Roasts in town.
Bristol pub The Bank Tavern promote their roast dinners
A Sunday roast that has been described as the "best of all time" has been so popular the pub that serves it has had to remove the ability to book any reservations.
The Bank Tavern in Bristol was recently reported to have a four-year-long waiting list, with research compiled by business payment provider, Dojo, suggesting it had the longest waiting list in the world.
Bookings are now "closed for the foreseeable future", the website reads.
Foodies have heaped praised on the incredible Sunday menu, which typically consists of a 30-day aged rare topside of beef, a slow-cooked pork belly, a honey and rosemary roasted leg of lamb and a vegetable lentil loaf.
In 2018 the pub nabbed the top spot at the Bristol Good Food Awards, while in 2019 it was named "Best Sunday lunch" by the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2019.
Landlord Sam Gregory told the Guardian at the time the immense popularity was "an emotive subject".
He questioned what really is the best Sunday roast, adding: "We are very much a backstreet boozer but I guess that's part of our charm.
"You just don't expect to get the quality of food you do when you first come through the door."
He told Secret Bristol: "We don’t repeat the same menu and although we always have beef. We also do pork, some vegetarian options and perhaps venison or poultry."
The pub's meat is sourced from West Country farms, but it's incredible quality is not obvious from the prices.
A three-course meal will cost customers £26.95, or £21.95 for two.
The delicious food has earned the boozer a series of glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, with one saying it was "supreme on all fronts" and "Always brilliant for weekday meals and Sunday lunch!"

"The latest menu offerings are very tasty and as always, competitively priced for what comes to the table. The presentation invariably surpasses the expectation from the menu description.
"The kitchen team always come up with something new, expertly presented and super tasty," they added.
A third claimed that the roast is "faultless".
"Lovely staff, good wine and a proper normal pub," they said.
One customer would have even "happily licked off the plate".
The pub's website advises that while bookings for Sunday roasts are unavailable, the daytime lunch menu is still "brilliant" and available for walk-ins and bookings.
For those desperate to sample their roasts, prospective customers are advised to keep an eye on the pub's Instagram & Facebook social media pages for updates and last-minute cancellation slots.
