Man who stabbed friend in heart and posted video of dead body to Snapchat guilty of murder
Mark Jones stabbed his friend Kyle Walley and posted videos of his dead body on Snapchat.
A man who posted videos of his dead friend on Snapchat, after stabbing him in the heart, has been found guilty of murder.
20-year-old Mark Jones denied murdering 19-year-old Kyle Walley in Wrexham on July 11 2021, despite the court being shown footage, posted online, of Mr Walley lying dead whilst Jones kicked his body.
In a separate clip, Jones showed bloodstained hands to the camera and claimed he had "stabbed up" Mr Walley and was "going to do time".
Social media footage also showed Jones drinking cider and bourbon at Mr Walley's flat, whilst making stabbing motions towards him when his back was turned.
From the same flat, Jones posted a video saying he was "thinking of stabbing someone up right now".
Prior to Mr Walley's death, Jones messaged his friend on more than one occasion. One message had an image of himself with a cartoon knife accompanied by the message "I'm going to stab you up tomorrow."
Jones had an "obsession" with knives, Mold Crown Court heard during the trial.
The police were called when friends saw the videos.
Prosecutor said a friend of Kyle Walley's, Attia Jones was on the phone to Mr Walley when he shouted at Jones to "put the knife down".
Ms Jones then heard screaming, before hearing the defendant saying he was sorry and that it was "my ADHD".
Jones had gone over to Mr Walley's flat to watch England vs Italy in the final of Euro 2020 at Wembley.
Mr Walley let Jones into his flat around lunchtime, however before the 17:00 BST game had kicked off, he was dead.
Jones claimed he had acted in self defence as his friend had come at him holding a blade.
The defendant claimed he grabbed the knife and struck his Mr Walley to "get him away from me".
Mr Justice Stephen Eyre told Jones the sentence would be one of life imprisonment.
He will be sentenced on Friday, when the judge will determine the minimum term he will serve in custody.
