Student turns potholes into mini gardens
YOU can’t miss potholes after Steve Wheen’s been in action. The guerilla gardener turns them into mini gardens – to highlight the lack of repairs.
Design student Steve, 33, plants bright flowers in road and pavement cavities.
He uses daffodil, crocus, cyclamen, narcissus and polyanthus from London’s Columbia Road flower market. The website where he showcases his work has had 25,000 hits in a month.

Surfers also suggest holes across the capital for him to beautify. Steve, who lives off Brick Lane in east London, said: “I wanted to make a point. As a cyclist I find potholes a constant menace. I use bright flowers in the hope motorists will avoid them.”
