Holiday tip gets you 48 days off in 2023 using just 19 days annual leave
Being strategic can make your annual leave last longer.
Next year has a whopping nine bank holidays, and by using them to your advantage, you can turn 19 days of annual leave into 48 days of holiday.
When booking, the trick is to be strategic and select days before and after the bank holidays.
It means millions of Brits have a chance to more than double their typical holiday allowance, reports The Mirror.
Most full-time workers are legally entitled to 28 days' paid leave a year, which is equivalent to 5.6 weeks of holiday.
Unearth PR has said that if you work a nine-to-five job from Monday to Friday, you may be able to make your holiday stretch further by booking these specific dates.
But not all workers are given days off on Bank Holidays.
If Bank Holidays are not included in your holiday entitlement, this will not work.
Here are the key dates to look out for next year:
April
In 2023, the Easter Bank Holiday will fall on April 7 (Good Friday) and April 10 (Easter Monday).
To give yourself a 10-day long break, you will only need to book the following four days off:
- Monday, April 3
- Tuesday, April 4
- Wednesday, April 5
- Thursday, April 6
May
The early May Bank Holiday falls on Monday, May 1 in 2023 and Brits get a second on Monday, May 8 thanks to the coronation of King Charles III.
Although workers will only get two days off, they can stretch it to ten days by booking these four days as annual leave:
- Tuesday, May 2
- Wednesday, May 3
- Thursday, May 4
- Friday, May 5
May/June
There will be a Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May on Monday, May 29.
Booking off the following four dates can get you another nine consecutive days off:
- Tuesday, May 30
- Wednesday, May 31
- Thursday, June 1
- Friday, June 2
August/September
The Summer Bank Holiday in 2023 will fall on Monday, August 28.
Another nine day holiday could be yours if you choose to book these four days off:
- Tuesday, August 29
- Wednesday, August 30
- Thursday, August 31
- Friday, September 1
December
Workers will get two Bank Holidays in December next year.
The first falls on Christmas day (Monday, December 25) and the second falls on boxing day (Tuesday, December 26).
But you can stretch the two days off to a huge 10-day holiday - taking into account the New Year's Day bank holiday (Monday, January 1) if you book these three days off on leave:
- Wednesday, December 27
- Thursday, December 28
- Friday, December 29
