M25 traffic chaos: ELEVEN MILES of queues cause misery for drivers after lorry breakdown
DRIVERS face 11 miles of queues in Kent this morning after a lorry broke down on the M25.
As of 7.57am, drivers on Junction 2 (Darenth Interchange) on the M25 face 11 miles of queues. The traffic is due to a broken down lorry and an earlier accident, adding to the usual delays at the QE2 Bridge, and A13 queues from Grays.
According to Motorway Cameras, one of three lanes is closed within J2, with normal conditions expected between 9.30 and 9.45.
Maritime Radio also reported the expected travel time is 45 minutes.
Kent County Council Highways said at 6.44am on Twitter there were reports of a multi vehicle RTC heading Clockwise on the M25 between J2 (A2 Darenth Interchange) and J3 (M20 Swanley Interchange).
They added at the time: “Emergency services are en-route, please use caution on the approach and expect delays.”
At 8.21am, they said delays were cleared between the two junctions.
It comes as a crash on the A127 near Pound Lane in Basildon has caused traffic chaos across south Essex this morning.
An accident on the A127 Londonbound is partially blocking the carriageway near Pound Lane after the Fairglen Intechange.
On the A127 there were queues are building back as past Rayleigh Weir, with drivers reporting they were stuck in traffic for more than 30 minutes.
There are further problems on the A13 London bound near the Stifford Interchange to the M25 at J30.
Meanwhile, the M20 westbound between junctions J9 and J8 for Ashford and Maidstone has suffered delays over a broken down vehicle.
There is one of three lanes closed with normal traffic conditions expected between 10.45 and 11.00.
