London power cut: Thousands of homes left without electricity for hours - 38 postcodes hit
THOUSANDS of homes were left without electricity for hours after a power cut in London.
Wembley: Widespread power cut after cable failure
The power company confirmed that as many as 38 postcodes across London and Hertfordshire were affected by the power cuts.
Residents in Wembley, Harrow and Stanmore also reported being without power.
People in Lincoln are also believed to have been affected.
The firm assured homeowners that their electricity would be back on between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.
However, they later updated their statement and said some homes could be without power until after midnight.
National Grid ESO said in a tweet: “We apologise for the disruption to consumers in North West London who have been disconnected this evening.
“Some have already been reconnected and engineers are working hard to ensure that all consumers are reconnected as soon as possible.”
UK Power Networks later confirmed that the power was restored at around midnight.
Impacted residents took to social media to report their experience and ask others about the issue.

One Twitter user wrote: "We are having a seventies revival here in North London... Power Cut!"
Another shared a photo of lit candles on a table, with the caption: "It may LOOK like we're getting ready for a romantic meal but in fact we've got a POWER CUT. It's like it's 1974 all over again."
The company said the power outage was caused by a fault with an underground electricity cable.
