M25 traffic nightmare: All lanes CLOSED after horror van and motorbike crash at rush hour
TRAFFIC has stopped on the M25 in Essex today after a crash involving a van and motorbike.
M25: Motorists suffer severe delays after incident
This afternoon National Highways said that the crash had hit rush-hour traffic between Junction 27 for the M11 and Junction 28 for the A12. It has already caused more than five and a half miles of congestion causing delays of an hour, it said.
Advising drivers to "consider alternative routes", it tweeted: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the #M25 clockwise in #Essex between J27 (for the #M11) and J28 (for the #A12) due to a collision involving a van and and a motorcycle.
"There is over 5 and a half miles of congestion on approach, with delays of 60 minutes. Consider alternative routes."
The crash was the second accident to hit the stretch of road today.
Just hours earlier six lanes on the M25 were closed after a vehicle fire.

The incident added at least 30 minutes to normal journey times.
Images showed rows of vehicles stretching into the distance along the major trunk road.
Traffic and travel service Inrix says: "Three lanes closed and queueing traffic due to car fire on M25 clockwise from J27 M11 J6 to J28 A12 (Brentwood / Brook Street Roundabout).
"The road is down to one lane past the scene. The car has been extinguished."

It is unknown how long delays will continue.
It came after two lanes of the M25 were closed after crashes reported on last night.
The first incident saw the M25 Anticlockwise partially shut to traffic between Junction 13 and Junction 12.
Two lanes were later shut between Staines and Chertsey following the earlier collision.
National Highways tweeted to say that the accident had been partially reopened at around 6.30pm.
It said: "Two lanes (of four) remain closed on the #M25 clockwise in #Essex between J27 (for the #M11) and J28 (for the #A12) following a collision involving a motorcycle and a van.
Emergency services are working at scene and recovery is en-route. There's 9 miles of congestion on approach.
