M25 traffic chaos as crash causes 13 MILES of queues - rush hour gridlock
TRAFFIC CHAOS has erupted on the M25 following reports of a crash, resulting in up to 13 miles of queues.
Congestion built up between the M25 junction for Brentwood and another for Waltham Abbey.
Following initial reports, two of four lanes on the motorway, anti-clockwise, between junctions 27 and 26 were closed.
One lane had reopened by 8am, though queues continued to add to journey times.
“Approximately 11 miles of congestion which is causing delays of over an hour.”
Traffic monitor INRIX put the queuing length at 13 miles.
It added that the collision had involved a lorry and a car.
At 8.45am, National Highways reported all lanes had reopened.
Delays were still expected, but decreasing.

“Delays of about 20 minutes remain but should start to ease now.”
This followed a crash earlier today, on Tuesday, also involving a lorry and a car on the M25 clockwise.
The accident happened at around 4.30am.
Traffic was reduced to just one lane until 6am, according to National Highways.
This resulted in queues of up to five miles, adding to early-morning journey times.
