Parents worrying over drink and drugs
DRUG and alcohol abuse by children are what parents fear the most, new research shows.
Cheap booze and the easy availability of cannabis and cocaine are the main worries, say many mums and dads.
According to a group of 12 to 15-year-olds, drinking and drug-taking are the two things they are most likely to lie about. More than half of the 2,000 adults questioned cited drugs and alcohol as their main concern for their offspring.
They also worried about their children being involved in a serious accident, their future financial stability, their children’s worries about body image and anxiety of under-age pregnancy. The 758 children quizzed fretted about being gay, getting hurt, schoolwork and getting into trouble with the police, the study by the Government-funded website Parentchannel.tv found.
Children said they disliked their parents swearing, smoking and arguing.
