Lollipop lady killed by lorry in front of children
A SCHOOL lollipop lady was run over and killed by a lorry in front of a group of children.
Catherine Gibson, 59, was hit by the truck during a snowstorm yesterday morning as she helped pupils cross the road.
A man who works close to the school, St Anne’s Primary in Glasgow, said: “The children were all screaming and crying. They all ran back from where the accident had happened. She was face down and it looked as though the lorry had driven over her shoulder.”
Another witness, father Robert Lawson, said: “I heard a scream but all I could see was the yellow jacket underneath the lorry. It was a shocking sight and I really feel for the children.” The school’s head Louise Jarvie said pupils would be offered counselling.
The 64-year-old lorry driver was uninjured.
