‘Killer driver’s secret’
AN epileptic lorry driver charged with killing two British tourists after a seizure had failed to take his medicine for two weeks, a court heard.
Jacqueline Timmins, 47, and Andrew Hardie, 48, of Yeovil, Somerset, died on a romantic trip to New York on Valentine’s Day last year when the 22-ton dustbin lorry hit them.
Auvryn Scarlett, 53, has been charged with second degree murder after prosecutors at Manhattan Supreme Court learned he kept his condition a secret from his employer.
Scarlett, who denies the charge, faces life in jail if found guilty.
The trial continues.
