A GUNMAN opened fire on mourners attending a funeral in a Manchester cemetery before being stabbed.

Police officers scrambled to Gorton Cemetery on Woodland Avenue after a man walked into the crowd and started firing shots. The gunman was then stabbed with a knife and has been rushed to hospital with what are thought to be serious face lacerations.
Panic broke out at the cemetery last night when the gunman went on the attack shortly before 7pm.
A crowd had gathered to pay their final respects to Clive Pinnock, 38, who was a well-known figure in the city.
He is thought to have fired three shots before being disarmed by police.
Officers remain at the scene as they continue to try and piece together what happened yesterday evening.
In a statement released last night, Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 7pm on Thursday, police attended Gorton Cemetery on Woodland Avenue, Gorton, following a report of a firearms discharge.
"A man aged 34 was found to have suffered knife wounds and was taken to hospital.
"Enquiries are ongoing."

GMP has not provided an update on the situation.
It is understood the weapon has not yet been recovered.
Police said they did not receive any reports of mourners being shot.

One passerby posted a video on Twitter capturing the scene at the graveyard before the shooting broke out.
The footage shows what appears to be dozens of people dressed in black clothing standing close to each other in the grounds of the burial place.
The woman said: "is this some fort of sick joke???
"Just been walking past Gorton Cemetery, smoke for miles, music playing, a couple hundred people pulling up in cars with alcohol??!!
"The videos don’t even catch half of it."
Mr Pinnock, who was a father, was killed on April 8 in a motorcyle accident.
He suffered fatal injuries when his Kawasaki motorbike collided with a BMW in Hyde Road in Gorton, Mancehster.
He later died in hospital.
Mr Pinnock hailed from the Longsight community in Manchester.
