Dive at 95? Sky’s the limit for daredevil Keith
AN INTREPID 95-year-old skydived out of a plane after convincing his care home it was a good idea.
Keith Stephens, who uses a walking frame, made the 15,000ft leap with his carer Angelica Lundekesi, who revealed the pensioner was not at all scared – unlike her. Keith, who lives at Silvermere Care Home in Cobham, Surrey, raised £1,300 for cancer charity Macmillan for his feat at Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury. Afterwards he said: “I thought it was super. It’s a good experience.”
Keith was able to make the jump after convincing care staff that he was fit enough for the challenge.
He also had to pass a medical to jump from 15,000ft – which is the highest altitude permitted in the UK.
Carer Angela said: “He’s a bit of a daredevil and quite adventurous. Nothing fazes him at all.”
She also revealed that Keith exercises every day by walking in the garden at the care home.
GoSkydive chief instructor Ryan Mancey, who has completed more than 10,500 jumps, said: “Keith is proof age is just a number.” And Emily Wise, charity manager for GoSkydive, added: “Congratulations to Keith and Angelica for raising money for Macmillan.
“Keith is a true inspiration to those who want to try a tandem skydive. The weather was perfect for his jump over Old Sarum Airfield.”
Keith completed another skydive four years ago when he was 91.
