‘Never say Corbyn is wrong' Diane Abbott's defence of Labour leader sparks 'cult' ridicule
SENIOR Labour figure Diane Abbott has sparked a furious backlash after she scolded the BBC for "teasing" her about Jeremy Corbyn, after she claimed that the Labour leader was "never wrong".
Jeremy Corbyn is 'never wrong' says Diane Abbott
Diane Abbott has told the BBC not to “tease” her about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in a bizarre broadcast remark. The key ally of Mr Corbyn made the comment during BBC’s Any Questions, where she said that the Labour leader “was never wrong”. This sparked a backlash online among listeners who claimed this was evidence of a “radical cult” inside the far-left Labour Party.
Ms Abbott spoke out after Mr Corbyn had claimed that people would have been treated differently if the floods took place in Surrey instead of Yorkshire.
Earlier this week, the Labour leader was accused of politicising the widespread floods after he hit out at Boris Johnson’s woeful response.
He said that Westminster had neglected the North, before adding: “Just imagine this had happened in Surrey instead of Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
“I think it would have been a very different story.”

Pressed on this remark, Ms Abbott said: “It is true that the people who have been flooded out feel they have been neglected, feel that Boris took a long time to come to them.”
BBC’s Chris Mason said: “But is it true that it was any different because it was in the North?”
Ms Abbott responded: “Well the issues, cuts to flood defences, cuts to environment agency, are the same wherever you are.”
The increasingly confused BBC host said: “So he was wrong then?”

The senior Labour figure fired back: “No, I would never say Jeremy was wrong.”
This remark prompted laughter amongst the audience.
Mason rebutted: “But you just have suggested that the issues are the same, they are either the same or different?"

Ms Abbott responded: “Don’t tease me about Jeremy Corbyn.
“I don’t contradict Jeremy Corbyn ever. and the issues are the same.”
Mason appeared stunned before he moved onto another panellist.
This comes as senior Labour Party figures are meeting to finalise the party's manifesto for next month's general election.
