BRITAIN faces another year of being tied to the European Union after MPs refused to approve Theresa May’s deal today.

Today MPs voted against Theresa May’s EU Withdrawal Agreement, with 344 voted against and 286 for.According to The Times, EU leaders are now preparing to force Britain to either accept a delay lasting up to a year on April 10 or force the country to leave the bloc without any agreement. Although several Brexiteers u-turned and said they would support the deal, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and the DUP continue to reject it.
Returning officers are being put on standby across the country as preparations for the UK to take party in EU elections in May have been stepped up.
The Cabinet Office and the Electoral Commission will also inform the government about plans for the elections at a Whitehall meeting.
At the summit in Brussels on April 10, EU leaders will be given a choice between a no-deal Brexit or giving the UK a long extension.
Brussels officials reportedly think the EU will offer a long extension, which could serve as an appeal to MPs.
President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, is pushing for a long delay if the UK takes part in the EU elections and holds a second referendum.
Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said Brexit could be delayed for a year to avoid no deal chaos.
Mr Morawiecki said: “We are open to consider a motion to extend the process of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union by six, nine or 12 months.
“These options are all acceptable, because we want the UK to stay and if that would not be possible to have an orderly Brexit.”
