Madonna takes delivery of Mercy
LITTLE Mercy James, the latest child to be controversially adopted by Madonna, flew into London yesterday.
Her arrival was shrouded in secrecy and her whereabouts were unknown.
However, Madonna, 50, was photographed arriving at the religious Kabbalah Centre in London yesterday hidden under umbrellas with her former husband Guy Ritchie, 40.
On Friday she flew into London’s Heathrow airport from New York with her daughter Lourdes, 12, and sons Rocco, eight, and three-year-old David Banda, also adopted from Malawi.
There had been rumours she was due to fly to the southern African country to pick up her new daughter after finally getting the go-ahead to adopt.
In the event it seems Mercy, three, was flown to Britain, accompanied by a nanny, a child nurse and a third assistant.
She might not get to see too much of her new mother in the next few weeks, for the star begins a seven-week European tour on July 4.
A therapist will work with Mercy to help her adjust as she leaves behind her orphanage to settle into Madonna’s £25million New York townhouse.
A source revealed: “Madonna realises this is too much change and adjustment for such a young child. The Kabbalah leaders in New York have helped her choose a leading child therapist to work with Mercy and facilitate her transition into life Madonna-style.”
Mercy’s 18-year-old mother, Mwandidar, died when she was only one year old.
