Merseyside dog attack: Five injured as frenzied dog attacks group in Formby
FIVE people including a 15-year-old girl are being treated by paramedics after a large dog escaped from a home and began attacking people in Formby, Merseyside.
Terrified witnesses described hearing screaming as the animal began mauling passers-by after getting loose from a walled property in Liverpool Road. One eyewitness looked on in horror after seeing the dog, reportedly a Caucasian Shepherd, pin a person down in the street, according to the Liverpool Echo. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at around 1pm following reports the animal had bitten four adults and a teenager.
The dog is said to have escaped from a property surrounded by a large wall and electronic gate.
Those hurt in the attack are receiving treatment for what Merseyside Police said are believed to be minor injuries.
A force statement said: “We have attended to an incident in Liverpool Road, Formby this afternoon, in which five people were bitten by a dog.
“They are receiving treatment for what are thought to be minor injuries.”
