‘It’s a form of racism’ England fan’s fury after Welshman ‘jokes’ about football shirt
AN ENGLAND football fan won an apology from a Welsh national park worker - for making fun of his Three Lions shirt as the fan fumed the joke was “a form of racism”.
The park warden spotted a visitor's England football kit and quipped that he had "some dirt on his shirt".
But the England fan took offence - complaining the comment was "a form of racism".
Now the Snowdonia National Park employee has had to apologise.
A report into the row at the popular Pen-y-Pass car park in North Wales, stated: "The staff member in question offered a sincere apology to the complainant for the offence caused.
"He stated that the remark was meant as a light-hearted joke and that he did not intend to be malicious or cause offence in any way.
"The head of service spoke to the staff member about acceptable conduct within his role.
“As a result, she is confident that this was an isolated incident and will not happen again."
