The 36-year-old comedian's US chat show is up for a prestigious TV award only weeks after its launch.
James, who took charge of The Late Late Show on CBS in March, is shortlisted for the best talk show in the Critics' Choice TV Awards along with more established names Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.
Also on the list is Graham Norton, with the Irishman's chatshow running on BBC America.

James has already chatted to some of the most famous faces in the world
James, who is relatively unknown in America, has taken over from Scottish-born Craig Ferguson and moved to Los Angeles with his family to make the show.
Despite his chat show career being in its infancy, the actor and comic has already won countless fans thanks to his hilarious sketches on the show.
His impressive list of guest have already included Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Beckham and Naomi Campbell.

One of its stars, Mark Rylance, is nominated for best actor in a movie or limited series along with fellow Brits David Oyelowo, James Nesbitt and Michael Gambon.
Two more members of the Wolf Hall cast, Jonathan Pryce and Claire Foy, are nominated for best supporting actor and actress respectively.
