DESPITE the first film being hugely successful, Sam Taylor-Johnson has decided not to direct the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey.
Sam Taylor-Johnson has confirmed she will not be directing the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel
The 48-year-old has confirmed that she will not be returning to the set of the second film, and wished the film's future director all the best.
Speaking to Us Weekly, the mother-of-four said: "Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful.
"While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three."
However, proving that there's no hard feelings between her and the movie's main star, Jamie Dornan, Sam then posted a picture of her with the actor on her Instagram page.

But it's thought that one person Sam doesn't get on with is the author of the best-selling novels, E.L. James.
Sources close to the project told Variety that Sam decided to resign from directing future installments because of a rift between her and the writer.
The sequel has also lost its screenwriter Kelly Marcel, leaving Universal to find a new writer as well as a new director.
Sam has made no secret of the fact that directing the new took its toll on her.
Speaking to RED magazine earlier this year, she said she had to fight hard to retain her creative control, telling the publication: "I want to protect my vision and that’s the hardest thing. There are so many voices. You have to try and keep all those people at bay. You think, you hired me because I’m a creative artist with a vision. Don’t try and knock it out of me."
