Loose Women presenter Andrea Mclean becomes the first contestant to exit BBC's Tumble
ANDREA MCLEAN'S hopes of being crowned the Tumble 2014 champion came to an end after she became the first celebrity gymnast to leave the BBC show.
A previous double ankle injury, which Andrea suffered while rehearsing an acrobatic floor routine with her partner Alex Uttley, finally took its toll on the Loose Women presenter as she lost her balance during her performance on Saturday night.
"We've only got a few days to go," a weeping Andrea said.
She added: "I'm having to force myself to keep going through the pain. I'm absolutely not giving up."
Despite receiving praise from head judge Olympic gymnastics legend Nadia Com?nec for correcting the mistake, she received a total score of 22 out of a possible 40 from the entire panel, which consists of Strictly Come Dancing champion Louis Smith, circus artist Sebastian Stellar and Team GB gymnastics captain turned sports broadcaster Craig Heap.
Her low position meant the 44-year-old daytime host had to compete against former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan in The Vault Challenge.
The pair faced the eliminating decider after finishing bottom of the leader board when scores from weeks one and two were taken into consideration.
Peter, who this week scored 26 out of 40, opted to for a headstand while Andrea followed his routine with a handspring.
But her fate on the show was sealed after Com?nec made a decision to save Duncanbecause he attempted a more difficult manoeuvre.
A visibly upset Andrea told presenter Alex Jones: "I've loved every minute of it - every sprain, every rip, every bump."
Speaking after the result, Jones hinted that the discipline for the remaining stars – who include Girls loud's Sarah Harding, and actor John Partridge – next week will be trampolining.
Sitting at the top of the leaderboard with an impressive 31 points is Steps star Ian 'H' while Dynasty star Emma Samms finished in second place.
The Saturdays have also been confirmed to perform on next week's third show.
Tumble returns to BBC 1 next saturday at 6.30pm.
