Miranda Kerr shows off her generous side with $100,000 donations to baby elephant charity
MIRANDA Kerr proved she's every inch the generous superstar after donating a mighty $100,000 to a charity that helps baby elephants in Thailand.
The supermodel, who recently hit headlines after splitting from husband Orlando Bloom, personally handed the cheque to the founder of Friends of the Asian Elephant, Soraida Salwala, last month.
And in the picture which was released this week, the star looks every inch the glamorous charity-giver as she poses alongside Ms Salwala in a white body con dress and bright red lipstick.
The funds will set up a fund to ensure juvenile elephants at the special hospital in Lampang, Thailand, will remain nourished, and in honour of her generous donation, will be named after the mother-of-one.
Speaking about the recent gifting, Ms Salwala said: "We have elephants like baby Naka, who is now one year old. His mother tried to kill him at birth, but we fed him for one year with goats milk to help him grow.
"Miss Miranda Kerr's generous donation of US$100,000 will be for our milk fund.
"In her honour we have named the fund Miranda Kerr's Baby Elephants Milk Fund. She is a beautiful and good woman to help elephants."
She added: "When I thanked her, Miss Kerr said she appreciated what my foundation was doing and she was happy to know about FAE and happy to help our good cause."
The Friends of the Asian Elephant organisation have treated nearly 4,000 elephants since founding its first hospital – the world's first elephant hospital – in 1993.
