Todd Carty leaves Dancing on Ice 'in one piece' after losing out to Zaraah Abrahams
HE made a lasting impression when he first appeared on the show in 2009, and last night Todd Carty went out with a bang on Dancing on Ice yet again.
The 50-year-old actor became the latest celebrity to be voted off of the ninth and final series of the ITV1 show - but not without recreating the unforgettable moment which left viewers in fits of laughter five years ago.
Before leaving the competition, Todd thrilled the audience with a twist on his spectacular stumble off the rink in the earlier series.
The father-of-two, who appeared to unintentionally skate off the set in the middle of a performance in 2009, recreated the moment in the skate-off - but this time it was his professional partner Alexandra Schauman who fell foul of the slippery service for comedic effect.
Todd, who played Mark Fowler in the long-running BBC soap, lost out to actress Zaraah Abrahams in the skate-off, and after his fate was sealed, said: "I'm so so glad I was invited back."
"We're just happy that you're leaving in one piece, Todd," skating star Christopher Dean replied with a grin on his face.
The actor danced to The Beatles' Help!, and said he felt "fantastic" after his performance.
Following the skate-off, judge Karen Barber said it was "a great excuse to see two memorable routines again".
Zaraah, who danced to Prince's Diamonds and Pearls, was "poetry in motion", according to judge Jason Gardiner, but the Australian judge described Todd's dance as being like a "derailed locomotion".
Earlier in the show the judges awarded him the lowest score of the night with just 12 points out of 40, while Zaraah scored 30.
The panel unanimously put the former Waterloo Road star through to next week's show.
Singer and West End star Ray Quinn topped the leaderboard with 35.5 points following his performance to last year's hit Blurred Lines.
