Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt in first look at Doctor Who anniversary special
THE BBC has revealed the first official photos for the Doctor Who anniversary special 'The Day of The Doctor.'
The series of snaps from the show, which is due to air next month, include Matt Smith, David Tennant and John hurt in a number of different scenarios - but Hurt's role has yet to be announced.
One of the stills show Matt Smith dangling from a tardis over trafalgar Square, while another sees David Tennant manning a tardis control with a look of concentration on his face.
Jenna Coleman is also pictured alongside former companion Kate Stewart, played by Jemma Redgrave.
The Day of the Doctor has been made to mark the sci-fi show’s 50th anniversary and will be broadcast on BBC One on Saturday November 23, running for a full 75 minutes.
And while the BBC have confirmed that both Smith and Tennant will both be playing the Doctor, Hurt's role is a mystery with some speculating that he could be the incarnation between the eight and ninth Time Lord.
The show will be current doctor Matt Smith's penultimate appearance in the show, and is set to be taken over by Peter Capaldi at Christmas.
Billie Piper is also set to make a comeback, but failed to make an appearance in the teaser shots.
The BBC released a pair of teaser trailers at the end of last month, but in true form, gave nothing away about the special episode.
However, the production team confided that a full-length trailer for the special episode will air soon and is currently under production.
The team said of the trailer: "It's never been seen before and is currently in post-production. Bold, brilliant and unexpected, it promises to be an ideal way to look forward to the big day."
