Sarah Brightman pays £20m to be a starship trooper
SHE found fame with a song entitled I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper...and now she’s planning a journey to get it back.
Sarah Brightman, the former wife of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, has reportedly spent a staggering £20million for a ticket on board a Russian spaceship.
The 52-year-old singer, who released the single as part of 1970s band Hot Gossip, will blasted into orbit in a Russian Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan in 2015.
Cosmonaut in training
She claims to have secured her place on a 10-day journey to the International Space Station that will take her 3.8 million miles and 160 times around Earth. Some have criticised the madcap scheme as a publicity stunt, while there have also been suggestions that the trip will be cancelled altogether.
Brightman said she has passed all the necessary tests and remains a “cosmonaut in training”.
The singer, whose own fortune is estimated at £30million, said she has been fascinated by space travel since being transfixed by the moon landings as an eight-year-old.
