My Family axed after 11 years
HIT sitcom My Family is to be dropped after 11 years. The BBC series, starring Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker as Ben and Susan Harper, has run for more than 100 episodes.
Executives decided to move on because the characters’ children have left home.
BBC1 controller Danny Cohen said: “Now all the Harper children have fled the nest we feel it’s time to make room for new comedies.”
The 11th series, to be screened later this year, will be the final outing. It launched the career of Kris Marshall, now seen in the BT ads.
The other children were played by ex-EastEnders actress Daniela Denby-Ashe and Gabriel Thomson.
