Royal baby: Prince Louis' christening - royal traditions baptism has to follow
PRINCE Louis is expected to be christened soon after spending his first few weeks at his Kensington Palace home with mother Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William. But what royal traditions must the baptism abide by?
Royal expert reveals European link for Prince Louis
Now over six weeks old, Prince Louis has been only been glimpsed by the public once since he was born on April 23, 2018.
The youngest sibling of Prince George and Princess Charlotte was briefly shown off by a radiant Kate as she emerged form the Lindo Wing just hours after giving birth.
Prince Louis has not attended various royal events over the last few weeks including the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
An announcement from Kensington Palace about the christening is expected imminently.
Prince George was christened around three months after his birth, whereas Princess Charlotte was baptised at only two-months-old.

Lily Font bowl
All royal babies are christened in the Lily Font bowl, an exquisite silver-gilt font used by the Royal Family since 1840.
Part of the Royal Collection, the font was commissioned by Queen Victoria for her first child and has been used for all subsequent royal christenings except for Princess Eugenie, who had a public baptism.
Holy water
Prince Louis will be blessed with holy water from the River Jordan in the Middle East.
The practice is followed because the river is where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.
Royal christening gown
As with his siblings, Louis will wear an exact replica of the antique lace gown commissioned for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter Victoria in 1841.
The original gown was used as recently 2008 for royal christenings but has been retired due to its age and fragility.
New photo of the royal

Kate and William released a new set of photos following the christenings of Prince George and Princess Charlotte so it’s likely we’ll see more adorable snaps too.
