Royal Baby is HERE and it's a GIRL... How Twitter exploded over the #royalbaby news
WITHIN minutes of this morning's announcement, #RoyalBaby began trending almost immediately on Twitter.
Kate Middleton
The jokes came thick and fast, with the other big event of this month – the general election – getting a mention.
Speculation grew over the new royal's gender and name. Some were convinced that Kate was having a girl named Alice while others hoped for something less traditional.
The Prime Minister was one of the first to send the royals his well wishes. Nick Clegg also got involved.
Royal Baby twitter trend as the news broke
