Prince Philip’s unusual response after Palace guest scolded Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
The claims emerge in an explosive new edition of a royal biographer's bestselling book.

Prince Philip praised a guest for disciplining his son's foul behaviour, according to fresh claims from a bestselling royal biographer. In a new chapter of Andrew Lownie's book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, he claims a friend of the palace scolded the young prince after he kicked his own dog.
The first edition, released in August 2025, became a Sunday Times Bestseller for delving into shocking accusations about the former Duke and Duchess of York. The new 41-page chapter titled 'The Reckoning', which is due to be released on May 21, delves into fresh claims about the former prince during his decades as a senior working royal.

He claims that while staying with the Royal Family at Sandringham one weekend; one longstanding family friend told Andrew off during a pheasant shoot.
Andrew apparently kicked his own dog after the Labrador leapt and snatched the guest’s sausage roll from his hand, which made the guest laugh. The dog was left "whimpering on the ground," claims Lownie.
According to the book, the guest then scorned the young boy, telling him he had done "the most disgusting thing" and told him: "You should be ashamed of yourself!"
Apparantely Andrew told him to p*** off in return, and said it was nobody's business what he did with his own dogs. However, the author claims that everyone, including his father, was pleased to see the young boy being disciplined.
"Over Andrew’s shoulder the guest saw several members of the party giving him thumbs-up in appreciation of what he’d said," writes Lownie.
"That evening, Prince Philip came up to him and said, ‘What you said to my son today was absolutely right and Her Majesty and I fully agree with what you said. Andrew needs a good scolding from time to time.’"
Andrew Lownie's book, which is more than 450 pages, is said to have taken four years to research and involved hundreds of interviews.
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding any claims made about him.
