Get Duchess of Edinburgh's sold out look for just £50 with stylish purse-friendly dresses
The Royals are often admired for their classy and elegant style, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh wore this season's most on-trend colour at a recent appearance. On a three-day visit to Chad, The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a reception at the British Embassy, where she met charity workers and NGOs.
She wore a stylish maxi dress from Ghost, featuring this season's most popular colour - red. The Auline dress would have set you back £129, however it's currently sold out.
Although you won't be able to buy her exact dress, the outfit is easy to recreate, and luckily there are plenty of alternatives out there, at a fraction of the cost.
For those willing to invest a little more money, there is a similar Ghost dress available at John Lewis.
The Madison Spot Dress is £149 and features a spotty pattern which offers the same kind of aesthetic as the Duchess' dress.
The dress comes in a range of sizes from XS to XXXL, with an A-Line silhouette and elbow-length puff sleeves.
However, if £149 is a little too high for you don't worry - we've searched the internet to find some budget dress alternatives.
However, if you're looking for a similar style on a budget, M&S has some rather purse-friendly options.
Although not exactly the same, the most affordable option we've found is the Printed V-Neck Midi Shirt Dress, which has a similar vibe, costing £35 from Marks and Spencer. The dress comes in a range of sizes and includes petite, regular and tall lengths.
Another M&S option is the Printed Midi Waisted Dress, which is in a burgundy shade that could easily be styled with a jacket and boots for autumn - it also comes in at under £50. There's a black option too, which is just as versatile and works for most seasons.
The dress is a new addition to M&S' site, and it's worth keeping in mind that you may want to size down in this one, as the first review says: '' I'm normally a size 14 and got this dress in size 10, as the dress is very generous in size. It's very easy to wear with either [Doc Martins] or shoes...it's lovely.'' [SIC]
The Long Sleeve Midi Wrap Dress In Red Dot Print from Debenhams has a similar flattering wrap design to Sophie's dress, but with a slightly bolder polka dot print. Currently, the dress is on sale for £40.50, and it's an easy way to channel the Ghost dress but for a whopping £88 less.
Or, for a non-patterned version, the Little Mistress Red Check Print Midaxi Dress by Vogue Williams is just £29.50 from Freemans, in sizes eight to 18.
