Boris Johnson hails 'brilliant' Prince Harry and Meghan as he admits 'failing' at Megxit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were highly praised by Boris Johnson in a new interview while promoting his new book, Unleashed.

The former Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party appeared on GB News and spoke fondly of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

He also admitted that he "failed" to avert Megxit - a topic which he writes about in his book.

Mr Johnson said on the programme: "Prince Harry and Meghan, in my view, they came to an event we did for female education and they were brilliant.

"And she was particularly good and articulate and on it and on the detail."

Host Camilla Tominey, who has been critical of the Sussexes before, asked: "So you got on quite well with both of them?"

To which the former premier responded: "Yeah, I got on well with both of them. I also worked with Harry when he did his Invictus Games for disabled veterans in the Olympic Park.

"And so, in a fit of pomposity, I thought: This national asset is leaving our country. I think, on the whole, he could be a force for good. I'm going to try and discourage him.'

"I had a pathetic attempt at that. It didn't work. I failed to avert Megxit, but I did deliver Brexit."

The clip was shared on social media, prompting many fans to comment on the journalist's reaction to Mr Johnson's claims.

One user wrote on X: "Watch Camilla Tominey's face as Boris Johnson gushes praise for Harry and Meghan; she looks like she's chewed a wasp. I loathe him, but this clip will keep me warm this winter."

A second one added: "Christ almighty she looks absolutely devastated and on the verge of breaking down in floods of sobbing. a pleasurable view even though it's got Bloater Johnson in it."
