Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be facing a "turning" of the tides following three humiliating incidents that saw the royals being slammed as "grifters" and Harry as "unloved".

Roya Nikkhah and Kate Mansey, two royal editors from The Times, opened up about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's recent slights on a new episode of The Royals with Roya and Kate.

The commentators were discussing Harry accepting the Pat Tillman Award when Kate pointed out the "tide may be turning" in the US for the couple, given three recent humiliations.

Kate Mansey said: "The tide does seem to be turning, you know. Obviously, we've had the former Spotify exec come out and say that they were grifters. We've had that South Park episode, in which... you know, even worse than being criticised, they were ridiculed."

She continued: "You know, they were prince and princess of Canada on their Worldwide Privacy Tour, and I think that, you know, that... there were reports they were going to sue South Park over that.

"And they said the reports were baseless and boring, which to me just spoke of... you know, they were so angry about the whole thing, that they would come out and say something which then... you know, reignited the whole issue again.

"And, you know, even the Spectator, which previously has been pretty neutral, said, 'Alas, Harry has become as unloved a figure in the United States as he is in Britain'."

It follows Harry's controversial decision to accept the Pat Tillman Award  for his work with the Invictus Games. The accolade is usually handed out to those who make "remarkable civic contributions" to sport.

But Harry has been slammed for accepting the award, with Pat Tillman's mother Mary saying "there are recipients that are far more fitting".

In the Spectator article, Alexander Larman wrote that despite Harry’s "genuine and sincere involvement" in sport, there is "widespread scepticism" that he is "deserving".

Bill Simmons slammed the Duke and Duchess last month after their multi-year partnership with Spotify ended, saying he wished he had been involved in "the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation", reports CNN.

He said on his podcast: “‘The F**king Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them. I have got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories … F**k them. The grifters.”

Harry and Meghan were also brutally mocked in a South Park episode titled The Worldwide Privacy Tour, which featured the "prince of Canada and his wife" on a mission to find privacy and seclusion.
