Prince Andrew: Photographer recalls Newsnight interview
Prince Andrew is still holding out hope that he can return to the Royal Family as a working royal, says author Andrew Lownie.
Daily Express US spoke to Mr Lownie, who said: “The thing with Prince Andrew is that he has very little self awareness, and he is quite arrogant, and thinks he can bludgeon his way through this.”
For example, Andrew was out riding in Windsor Great Park the day after King Charles announced his return to public-facing duties, which could be seen as a calculated move.
Mr Lownie says: “He sees an opportunity here, senior members of the Royal Family are ill, it’s a slimmed down monarchy, he’s seventh in line to the throne, he’s a senior royal.”
He adds: “He’s busy lobbying behind the scenes, it’s the fightback.”

Mr Lownie compares the The Firm to another famous family-run business, saying: “You’ve got to imagine, the royal family is like the mafia, basically, they are all at each other’s throats, it’s like a a Tudor court.”
“So that’s why he is out and about.”

While Andrew doesn’t carry out royal engagementS, he’s still a senior royal and seventh in line to the throne, so he is a part of the Royal Family, but there’s no chance of him returning as a working royal, says Mr Lownie, because there are “too many uncertainties.”
“So, I think they are pretty adamant that there is no public role for Andrew, that he can come to private family occasions, but basically keep him in his box.”
