Royal freshers week: Inside Prince William, Kate Middleton and other royals' uni halls
FRESHERS WEEK 2019 is nearly here and first-year students across the UK will soon move into their new university digs. These are the university halls of residences which have hosted royal family members over the years.
Prince William's university life was 'out of bounds' says expert
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William’s romance first blossomed when they were living in the same university halls at St Andrew’s. In recent years a string of Royal Family members have attended universities in the UK. Express.co.uk gives you an insight into what their halls of residence looked like.
Kate Middleton and Prince William - St Andrew’s
Wills and Kate both lived in St Salvators Hall of Residence during their first year at St Andrew’s University.
They both started at University in 2001 and photos of the student digs at that time show the rooms were pretty basic.

Princess Eugenie - Newcastle
Princess Eugenie studied at Newcastle University where she is said to have lived in Castle Leazes student residence.
Rooms in the halls £102 to £175 per week and it’s believed the Princess opted for a simple ensuite single room with access to a communal kitchen.
Princess Beatrice - Goldsmiths
As Princess Beatrice studied at Goldsmiths and stayed in London for university she missed out on the typical halls experience.
Instead, the Princess had an apartment in St James’s Palace as there was no need for her to leave the royal residence.
Peter and Zara Phillips - Exeter
Peter and Zara Phillips have been dubbed the down-to-earth royals due to the fact they were both raised without official titles.
Both Princess Anne’s children studied at Exeter University where they had the choice of a range of accommodations.
While it is not known where they lived on campus, they could have from a range of digs including Lopes Hall and Pennsylvania Court which have single ensuite rooms and communal kitchens.
Sam Chatto - Edinburgh
Princess Margaret’s grandson Sam Chatto studied at Edinburgh University and shared a post of his cosy student home on Instagram.
With Buddhist prayer flags in the window and pot plants, it seems the budding artist was going for the Bohemian vibe.
Lady Amelia Windsor - Edinburgh
Lady Amelia Windsor is another young royal to have studied at Edinburgh.
The model shared a selfie of herself in her bedroom at Edinburgh which shows she is a fan of fairy lights and Polaroid snaps.
