Tony Blair calls for second referendum in fresh attempt to derail Brexit
STRIDENT Remainer Tony Blair has again called for another referendum to be held before Brexit is complete.

The former prime minister, who has been accused of orchestrating a ‘Remain coup’, wants a fresh vote to be held on the Brexit deal.
He told The National “What’s important is that we don’t have a vote on the divorce until we see the terms of the new relationship.
“It could be an election, it could be a referendum… you have to have a final say.”
The former Labour leader wants a final vote on Brexit terms after negotiators have agreed on a deal.
The anti-Brexit camp has bemoaned the UK Government’s decision to keep its cards close to its chest on the divorce talks.
The call for a fresh vote echoes demands from the Liberal Democrats and some members of the Labour Party.

Mr Blair also made the call last year before being shot down by Theresa May.
The former prime minister recently travelled to Brussels to meet with Jean-Claude Juncker who greeted him as his “good friend”.
Independent British MEP Steven Woolfe last week suggested there was an attempt at a “Remain coup of the Brexit referendum”.

The Brexiteer suggested the technique used by Remainers is similar to the way the Labour Party used to work under Tony Blair.
Speaking to talkRADIO, Mr Woolfe said he did “not want to point the finger” at the former prime minister, but insisted Mr Blair was in the position to try to fight against Brexit.
He said: “I have had a feeling for some time there is an attempt at a Remain coup of the Brexit referendum and that it is being orchestrated.”

Mr Blair has claimed Brexit has already weakened the UK’s standing in the world and put the Good Friday Agreement agreed with his Government at risk.
He said: “Brexit is the determining issue of our time for the UK.
“With Northern Ireland, Brexit imposes a strain on the UK.”
