NICOLA Sturgeon took to the skies and covered hundreds of air miles campaigning – just days after she preached about saving the planet.

Sturgeon boarded a helicopter dubbed the “Nicolopter” as she flew to six constituencies hundreds of miles apart in a whistle-stop tour yesterday.
Yet the Scottish First Minister had criticised Theresa May over not taking Donald Trump to task for not agreeing to cut greenhouse gases.
She described Mr Trump’s decision not to sign up to the 2015 Paris climate accord as “profoundly regrettable.”

And she said it was an “appalling abdication of leadership by the PM” not to join other European leaders in condemning the US President.
The helicopter flew her from central Scotland towards Oban on the west coast and then down towards the border with England.

She is also planning to make flying visits to half of Scotland’s constituencies before polling day.
Criticising Mr Trump and Mrs May, she argued it was future generations who would pay the heaviest price for a failure of political leadership and not tackling climate change will hit the world’s poorest countries hardest.

Last year, Tory MP Charles Walker demanded the Electoral Commission look over the election spending of other parties including the SNP, claiming Mrs Sturgeon’s party had “used a helicopter to campaign for SNP candidates in 12 target constituencies – at a cost of £35,000.”
However, the First Minister insisted her party had played by the rules.
