JEREMY Corbyn received praised for his live Battle for Number 10 debate performance from an unlikely former rival.
Paxman grills Corbyn over views on monarch during debate
The Labour leader and Theresa May took to the stage to be quizzed by audience members and TV interviewer Jeremy Paxman with just weeks to go until the General Election.
Despite facing challenging questions about his alleged IRA links and previous refusal to put a figure on capped immigration, Mr Corbyn was hailed for his “assured performance”.
Following the debate Nigel Farage took to Twitter to congratulate Mr Corbyn on his performance.

The former Ukip leader tweeted: “I may not agree with Jeremy Corbyn but he came across as being totally sincere. Paxman didn't score any goals.”
The embattled politician was also praised by former Labour leader Ed Miliband.
Mr Miliband, who is standing re-election as Labour MP for Doncaster North, said: “Well done Jeremy Corbyn tonight. These gigs are hard. It was an assured performance.”

During the televised debate Mr Corbyn was torn into by Mr Paxman over his republican views by telling him, “you don't like the Queen".
And the Labour leader was challenged directly by an audience member over whether he was the right man for the job as Prime Minister.
Responding to the question, Mr Corbyn said: “But you know what in life you meet lots of people, some I agree with some I profoundly disagree with.
