'Michelle would divorce me!' Obama on why he would not run for third term as president
PRESIDENT Barack Obama has said his wife Michelle would “divorce” him if he were to run for a third term in office.

Speaking on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the outgoing leader said he was glad that there are term limits in place preventing him running once more.
He said: “If I were able to run for a third term, Michelle would divorce me, so it’s useful that I don’t have that choice to make.”

He said: “George Washington is one of our greatest presidents just because he helped lead the revolution.
“Because he had the wisdom after two terms, at the time there was no constitutional prohibition on him continuing… he had the wisdom to step back and say ‘I do not want to set a precedent where I’m president for life’.”
Speaking about his wife’s chances in politics, President Obama said she was “never wild about politics”.

He said: “Michelle once explained to me ‘I try to organise my life not to have a lot of mess around, and politics is just a big mess’.
“She said, when I was thinking about running for president, ‘I think you would make an outstanding president and I would work so hard to make sure you were president, you’re the kind of person we need – if I weren’t married to you.
“She is not sorry – all the women in my life are looking forward to being able to live a more normal life.”
The next US leader is set to be decided on Tuesday, November 8, when voters head to the polls, with Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton going head-to-head for the top job.
