When is the registration deadline?
Americans living in California must register to vote in the US election by the end of today (Monday October 24).
The deadline to register to vote is midnight Pacific Time in the US.
How can you register to vote?
People in California can register to vote by filling in the application on the California Online Voter Registration website.
You need to give your personal details and you are able to disclose a political party preference if you wish.

Californians who are in the military or living abroad can register to vote through the same website.
County elections official will contact you once you are registered to vote or if more information is needed.

What do you need in order to register?
Voters need to have their driving license number or California identification number in order to register online.
You also need to have your date of birth and the last four digits of your social security number at hand.
If you do not have a driving license or ID card, you must register as normal and complete an online interview before the deadline.
Who is allowed to vote in California?
US citizens who are residents in California and will be aged 18 or over on election day are allowed to vote.
Prisoners and those who have been deemed mentally incompetent by a court are barred from voting in the US election.
