Charlie Whelan has speculated that Len McCluskey will take action on Corbyn
Influential Charlie Whelan, a former political director at Unite, described Corbyn’s operation to date as a “shambles”.
Whelan, a former aide to Gordon Brown, said the current Labour leader is “a very decent bloke” who is struggling to adapt to his new role.
Referring to Unite general secretary Len McCluskey, he said: “If in a couple of years’ time we are still where we are now, the Len McCluskeys aren’t just going to sit there and say ‘OK’.

“The unions all backed Gordon Brown. Not one union leader had gone against him. I suspect they are now tearing their hair out.
"They’ll be worried that there is not a professional operation around the leader.”
He also said Corbyn needs to learn the lessons of how to be a leader after decades as a rebellious and largely overlooked backbench MP. McCluskey’s union has been Labour’s biggest funder.
